Women in Aviation Memphis Belles Scholarships 

  

Memphis Belles WAI Conference Registration Scholarship  

The Memphis Belles Chapter is offering the Women in Aviation Conference Registration 

scholarship for one person to attend the 20th Annual Women in Aviation International 

Conference in Atlanta, Georgia February 26-28, 2009.   The recipient must be able to 

travel to Atlanta, GA and attend the entire conference.  The Scholarship will pay for a 

full registration, banquet ticket plus a small stipend to help with hotel or transportation 

costs.  Eligible applicant must be 18 years of age by February 25, 2009  

Scholarship Value:  $500  

 

Memphis Belles Aviation Education Scholarship 

The Memphis Belles are offering an Aviation Education Scholarship.  The scholarship 

may be used for most aviation related programs/degrees.  Suggested uses include but are 

not limited to the following:  Aviation Business, maintenance training, dispatcher 

training, flight attendant training, Engineering, meteorology, air traffic controller, or 

aviation professional development.  For questions regarding programs/disciplines not 

listed.  Eligible applicant must be 16 years of age by November 12, 2008.  Please 

contact the scholarship committee for further details.   

Scholarship Value:  $1250 

 

Colleen Platt Walker Memorial Scholarship 

Colleen was an outstanding pilot who flew numerous flights as a regional pilot and flight 

attendant. She loved flying and was quick to share her knowledge and passion of 

aviation with other aspiring pilots. 

 

To honor her passion and dedication for flying, The Colleen Platt-Walker Memorial 

Scholarship was established. The scholarship is a loving endowment from Colleen's 

parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Platt and other generous donors. The scholarship is to 

assist in acquiring a pilot's certificate and/or rating in an airplane, helicopter, or glider.  

Eligible applicant must be 16 years of age by November 12th 2008. 

Scholarship Value:  $1250
